What you need to know when implementing photovoltaics for the home
When implementing a photovoltaic system for a home, it is important to consider the following factors:
1. Production of photovoltaic panels per surface area:Panel production per area is directly proportional to the panel power. For 1 kWp of power, approximately 6 m² of area is required, regardless of the power of the individual panel (200 W, 380 W or 550 W).
2. Solar production of photovoltaic panels per year:
Production is given in kWh and in Slovakia it ranges from 1,000 to 1,100 kWh per 1 kWp of installed capacity per year. For simplicity, we can state that 1 kWp of capacity = 1 MWh of production per year..
3. Orientation during installation:
Panels can be effectively installed on the east, south or west side with a slope of 10 to 45 degrees. The ideal orientation is south, but other orientations can also be effective.
4. Photovoltaic system:
Photovoltaic panels produce direct current (DC) voltage, which must be converted to alternating current (AC) using a voltage converter. The panels, converter, and other components make up a photovoltaic system.
5. Correct installation:
To achieve maximum production, proper system connection and installation is key.
6. Choosing the right company:
Be careful when choosing an implementation company. Companies that offer a wide range of products can only sell what they have in stock, not what is most beneficial for you. Photovoltaic systems are complex devices, so it is important that they are comprehensively designed, installed and tested by experts.
Photovoltaic systems provide a sustainable and environmentally friendly way to generate electricity and contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Although the technology is highly advanced today, it is important to understand the basics of how it works so that you can effectively use its benefits.

I WANT ADVICE ON PHOTOVOLTAICS
When choosing a photovoltaic installation company, it is important to consider the following factors to ensure a quality installation and long-term satisfaction with your system:
1: Authorizations and certifications:
Installation License - Make sure the company has a valid license to install photovoltaic systems. Request proof of this license.
Manufacturer License - Verify that the company has a license from the manufacturers of photovoltaic panels and batteries to install, sell, and service them.
2. Equipment and technologies:
Buying foreign equipment - Avoid buying equipment from abroad without a guarantee that it is localized for the Slovak market. Inverters may have compatibility issues and the warranty may not be valid.
Equipment Certification - Check that photovoltaic panels and other components are certified to standards, preferably approved by SIEA.
- Information can be found on the website Green for households (SK)
3. Warranty and post-warranty service:
Service options - Check if the company provides warranty and post-warranty service. Photovoltaic systems have a lifespan of 25 years or more, so it is important to have support in case of any problems.
4. Connection to the distribution system:
Hybrid inverters - If you plan to connect battery storage, make sure the company installs a hybrid inverter that can be connected to the distribution grid.
5. Connecting the batteries:
For battery systems, make sure the inverter has a backup system output (load/EM) to ensure power supply during utility power outages.
6. Capacity and expandability:
Battery capacity - For battery storage, the capacity should be 2.5 to 3 times the power of the photovoltaic system. For example, for a 5 kWp system, the storage capacity should be at least 12.5 to 15 kWh.
Scalability - Consider the possibility of expanding the system in the future. Choose a company that can adapt the system to your future needs.
7. Quality of materials:
Mounting material - Check that the company uses quality mounting materials, such as aluminum and stainless steel. Galvanized parts can chemically react with aluminum, which can affect the long-term life of the system.
8. Choosing the right company:
Reference research - Get references from previous customers and verify their experience with the company.
9. Design quality:
Make sure the company provides a comprehensive system design that takes into account all the technical and spatial aspects of your home.
Following these points will help you choose a quality implementation company and ensure a successful installation of photovoltaic equipment.
